Purchasing Manager

Position Purpose:

The Purchasing/Estimator Manager is responsible for managing all activities involved with creating and maintaining material take-offs. We are seeking a Manager to work alongside the VP of Construction to develop and implement strategies to make the estimating and purchasing processes refined.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure the company has the best contractors available for each job site.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of the industry for the specific major category being sourced.
• Estimate materials for new plans.
• Own the responsibility for improving the division’s cost per square foot for their specified spend categories. Facilitate value engineering involving suppliers, trades, and customers.
• Create and maintain accurate material take-offs.
• Monitor material usage in the field for overages/shortages to update/correct material take-offs. Record and analyze take-off data through Microsoft Excel.
• Assist the Division team with plan value engineering.
• Maintain Division’s insurance compliance: update/correct purchase order issues.
• Complete the required forms by the Regional Operations Center (ROC).
• Maintain vendor files and contracts.
• Prepare bid requests for new/existing plans. Assist in evaluating new bid proposals.

Job Requirements and Education: 

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum five years’s experience in purchasing and estimating required.
• Ability to read and understand residential blueprints.
• Efficient with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, JD Edwards, and other software systems.
• Knowledge of all construction practices nationwide.
• Ability to perform several tasks efficiently under tight deadlines.
• Detail-oriented, energetic, and hard-working personality.
• Valid Driver’s License with good driving record
• Valid Auto Insurance Coverage
• Must be task-orientated and able to meet specific deadlines.
• Must have sound project management skills and be capable of managing several projects throughout the Florida market.
