Summary/Objective
The Events Manager is responsible for project management and implementation of events. This role sets the stage for an excellent participant experience by anticipating project and participant needs, and meticulous planning and delivery of exceptional events, including pre and post event elements. Work with leadership on vision and direction for each event.
Essential Functions
- Create and manage project plan, timeline, program and task list for Habitat Orlando & Osceola hosted events.
- Lead event planning and production meetings.
- Organize collaboration with Marketing on event marketing, photography and communications needs.
- Create event sponsorship packages.
- Develop relationships with corporate and community partners to secure event sponsorships, as well as retain & steward event sponsors.
- Vet and source event space, food & beverage, entertainment, supplies and other event elements.
- Negotiate costs and services with vendors.
- Collaborate with leadership on event programming including spokespeople and run of show.
- Project-manage all event logistics, including pre, post, & day of event.
- Determine event staffing needs; secure and manage volunteers and staff working the event.
- Work with all departments in the organization to ensure needs are met for successful events.
- Manage post-event results tracking and event supporter stewardship plan.
- Supervise and develop the Volunteer & Events Specialist.
- Provide direction and guidance for volunteer build day events and serve as back up to Volunteer & Events Specialist for build day events at our construction sites, as necessary.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position will supervise the Volunteer & Events Specialist.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This role will also work in a construction environment. On occasion, an employee may be susceptible to outside weather climate and conditions.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands, reach with hands/arms, listen, and communicate. The employee must be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 15 pounds on a necessary basis and will occasionally be required to stand and walk for extended periods of time consistent with a typical office environment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, salaried position and the office hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some early mornings, evenings and weekends may be required.
Travel
Travel, if any, is primarily local during business hours and mileage is reimbursed.
Required Education and Experience
- 2+ years’ experience in event planning and management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must obtain First Aid/ CPR/ AED certificate within first 90 days: training provided by Habitat
- Must obtain Anti-Money Laundering certificate within first 90 days: training provided by Habitat
- Must obtain Safeguarding certificate within the first 90 days training provided by Habitat
- Must obtain OSHA Competent Person certificate within first 90 days: training provided by Habitat
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience in nonprofit or affordable housing
- Experience with Salesforce
- Experience with VolunteerHub
- Knowledge of Habitat for Humanity and all aspects of the organization or ability to learn and answer questions on all aspects of the organization in a clear and accurate manner.
