Ally Building Solutions provides flooring, cabinetry, countertop, appliances and window treatment products and expert installation services, as well as design studio solutions, to new home builders in greater Orlando and Jacksonville. We are looking for an experienced Director of Countertops to join our team.

The Director of Countertops is responsible for the oversight of countertop services for all of Ally Building Solutions’ locations.  This position provides leadership and oversight for the Granite Fabrication Shop and support staff.  They are responsible for creating an environment oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking, cohesive team effort, and confirming the quality of the final product meets Ally Building Solutions standards.

Director of Countertops Responsibilities:

  • Ensure and improve performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability of the Countertops division.
  • Manage countertops division P&L, including participation in operating budget development.
  • Establish and manage Key Performance Indicators aligned with countertop material and labor estimates.
  • Maintain and promote a safe and efficient working environment that enhances employee morale and ensures safety practices are followed.
  • Help grow the existing book of business and bring in new business.
  • Develop and mentor countertops team to maintain performance standards.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, assignments, and inventory to maintain budgetary targets successfully and achieve targeted financial goals.
  • Coordinate with business partners on a regular basis, ensuring expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Work with Fabrication Manager to ensure that all production standards are met.
  • Review and understand estimates for countertops and ensure change orders and budget changes are processed to align with countertop work being performed.
  • Upgrade skills and industry knowledge of all members of the team through training and other appropriate means.
  • Coordinate and upgrade quality assurance program including inspection, documentation, and training.
  • Lead strategic execution of continuous improvement and optimize manufacturing process flow utilizing Lean Manufacturing practices.
  • Participate in preparation of ROI and budget for significant equipment and facility investments.

Director of Countertops Requirements:

  • 8+ years’ experience managing production and countertops, preferably in granite fabrication with 30 or more employees.
  • Knowledge of financial metrics and other business data to effectively make continuous improvements.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a focus on staff development and team building.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem solving and attention to detail.
  • Strong mechanical understanding and ability.
  • Lean Manufacturing principles and / or Six Sigma certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or UL Certification processes preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams.
  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise.
  • Ability to create accountability and lead by example.
